One bad thing about being a photographer is the constant obsession with
buying new gear. I got a G10 today - finally a Canon man. New camera for
me and a new bike shop in Canberra.

I had a couple of expensive flashes die on me a week or so ago so I replaced
them with some cheaper ones. Lucky for me there's a few boys in town with
"new bike fever" so I was able to run out and test them. Not as good as the old
ones but good enough.

I was out shooting with Ben Cory on the weekend. What a champ he is to
shoot with. He never complains and I think he hit one corner about 80 times
until I was sick of saying "one more time". Thanks Ben.

You're probably all wondering why this fabulous website hasn't been updated
in ages. Well.....I have been traveling around the world to places that
shouldn't have the internet and I get back to Australia, to a place that should
have the internet, and don't have the internet. Damn computer geeks can't
even figure it out. I thought K-Rudd was going to get the pathetic internet
services in Australia fixed!!!!!! When I do get my connection fixed I will fill
your screens with more dbp gold.

Schladming is also cool. I've just finished at the last world cup in Austria and
you can see some of my stuff up on littermag. For those who know me know
that I normally shoot with a lot of gear and love to use flashes but for this
weekend I decided to really throw myself into the deep-end and use two
lenses, one very old 4mp body, and not a single flash. I wanted a big
challenge by putting myself in a tough situation and the equipment I had
was very limited with a camera that performs very poorly in low light and a
lens that gave me f/5 on average. It was tough and the importance of the
World Cup finals wasn't lost on me so the added pressure make it even
better. I wanted to think outside the box and capture images that reminded
me of Schladming, not just any other World Cup race, and I also wanted
tto show myself that I don't need an expensive camera, some pocket
wizards and a few flashes to get good photos. Here's a collection - enjoy!

Sam working hard on TIA which will be released at the World Cup in
Canberra. I did an acting class for a year before my staring role in the film
and during a preview for the movie at a Sydney film festival I was spotted
by talent agents and will soon have a spot on Home and Away.

One of my worst fears is that someone will get hurt on a photo shoot and that
they'll be off the bike for ages and never be the same again. Last year I was
shooting with Geritt Beytagh in West Virginia and he crashed and busted his
ankle pretty bad. Immediately the guilt set in. "What if he never races again?",
"I've screwed his career", where some of the thoughts that ran through my
head. Finally my guilt has been resolved and Geritt was yesterday crowned
US National DH Champion - well done Geritt and finally I can sleep in peace.

I've got a very busy month of April ahead of me shooting and writing stories
and I'm looking forward to the many challenges that editors throw my way.
One such editor, Scott Hart from decline, made a comment about his
"A-Team" of contributors. Well, I took that as a challenge and used my
vast skills in Photoshop to produce this. On a separate note, I'm good at keeping secrets so I won't tell you but one of your favorite magazines
might have a nice surprise soon... keep watching the newsstands. Finally
to follow a common trend of magazines I have FNM - King for a Life, Fool
for a Life Time on my fruit branded MP3 player on high rotation at the moment.

Two entries with the same date - weird. Rando is heading back overseas
on Wednesday so I took the opportunity for a last minute photoshoot.
However, all riders think they can take better photos than photographers
so I gave Rando the camera, took his bike and gave him the challenge.

Today I bid a fond farewell to an old mate. He's been with me for years, thru
the thick and thin of my photographic career. He was there when I shot my
first cover. He was there with me to capture all the action from around the world.
He has traveled the globe with me and never complained about being squished
on the planes. He has endured the harsh elements from driving rain to
sweltering heat. He never complained and he never failed me. I sometimes
abused him and accused him of failing to get "that" shot and he would always
be willing to work for that "one more shot". And he's never been worried about
being the dumb sidekick to my other assistant. He's heading off to an early
retirement and has been replaced by a younger smarter assistant. He's my
old D2H. Thanks for all the memories............

I've been meaning to mention that there's been a few feature stories of mine
in decline magazine from when I was out East last. My current feature is on

I went out with Rando today to shoot some photos. Speeking of Rando. He
(and CORC) put on a super, super D race at Majura yesterday. Lots of
fun for all but also lots of money raised for Tara Llanes to help with her
recovery.

Sorry for the slow updates but I only just got the internet installed at my house

Aussie Nationals at Mt Stromlo all weekend and look out for a feature on

Welcome to '08 and the 5th year of damianbreach.com. To celebrate I went
and did a spot of surfing at Bells and some golf at Torquay. I plan on changing
this website a little but before I get around to doing that one huge
